But, it turns out that they were not, and the two people in the photos in fact have a heartwarming story to tell. According to World of Buzz, Zhang is a 24-year-old firefighter from Fenyi County, Xinyu, Jiangxi province while the elderly woman is Tang, who is 85-years-old this year.

Since 1983, it has been Tang’s practice to rescue babies abandoned near hospitals and care for them on her own. When these babies are strong and healthy, she would put them up for adoption or send them to welfare institutions. When she encounters weak babies, she adopts them herself and raises them like her own child. Zhang was one of them.

He was raised along with six other orphans by Tang who was already 61 years old at that time together with her husband. The couple also had five biological children of their own and despite just relying on their retirement salary and income from selling vegetables, they continued to raise their big family.

Soon, the couple experienced a lot of financial difficulties. Thankfully in 2001, the fire department in Fenyi county learned about their situation and decided to subsidize Zhang and his sister’s tuition fees. The fire department continued to support them until Zhang graduated from high school in 2016 and his sister graduated from college in 2013.

Because of being exposed to the fire department for over a decade, Zhang already learned to love their environment that he eventually decided to join them. In 2020, he was awarded third-class for his outstanding performance.

Despite having only a short time for vacations, Zhang decides to spend it with grandma Tang as his way of giving back for her sacrifices. In May 2020, Zhang took advantage of his annual leaves and quietly arranged a surprise wedding photoshoot for his grandma and grandpa. However, on that day, his grandpa was unable to make it for the photoshoot due to physical reasons.

So, he decided to put on his uniform and accompany his grandma to the photoshoot. When the photos came out, grandma Tang was shy at first but she was still happy while looking at them.

Now, Tang continues to live and replicate the good deeds his grandma has started. In fact, he is now able to support two students whose mothers have died and whose families are financially unstable.

Indeed, good deeds work just like ripples. No matter how small it starts, it will eventually replicate and become bigger and bigger as it continues to spread all throughout the water. Just like ripples, let us also keep on doing good deeds not to impress anyone else but for this world to become a much better place.
