Natural disasters occur all over the world every single day. Although the world is now more advanced and there are devices that can predict the possibility of the occurrence of a certain natural disaster, it is still inevitable that there will always be people who unfortunately fall victim to the circumstances before them.
Recently, a powerful earthquake hit western Turkey and has resulted in a lot of damages to properties and the death toll even rose to 111 as reported by Al Jazeera.
Miraculously though, after 91 hours of rescuers excavating collapsed buildings in order to find both more casualties and possible survivors, they have found 3-year-old Ayda Gezgin in one of the buildings at the hard-hit town of Bayrakli.
Rescuer Nusret Aksoy told reporters that he heard a child scream before locating the girl next to a dishwasher. He said Ayda waved at him, told him her name, and said that she was OK.
Unfortunately though, just a few hours after Ayda’s miraculous rescue, rescuers found the body of her mother Fidan, 38, in the same room of their destroyed apartment.
According to Philippine Star, people all over the country of Turkey are right now on a roller coaster ride of emotions as rescue operations are still continuing.
From time to time, there are survivors that are miraculously pulled up from the broken homes and buildings but at the same time, there are also dead bodies pulled up by rescuers.
This particular 7.0 magnitude quake is considered the deadliest one that ever happened in Turkey this year. The country has a long history of strong quakes shaking their nation because it is crossed by fault lines and is prone to earthquakes.
