Taxi Driver invented his own “protective gear” to protect himself from COVID-19

With the increasing numbers of the victims of the COVID-19 pandemic, we cannot blame the majority for taking extra precautions to avoid the disease. Some resort to staying home, but for others whose livelihood depends on traveling from one place to another, just like jeepney and taxi drivers, this whole virus scare is a gamble for them as staying home means starvation for their families.

So, in order to avoid getting infected with the deadly disease, they also take their own precautions at the same time giving importance to their livelihood. Just like what this driver from Cagayan de Oro did.

According to Virtual Pinoy, the still-unnamed driver is captured inside the taxi he drives with a plastic sheet. The plastic sheet serves as a cover to the entire driver seat which enables him to still move around and drive efficiently.

At the same time, the plastic sheet also enabled him to avoid direct contact between him and his passenger. He also wore a disposable glove so he can take his passenger’s fare without risking his health.

One passenger commended what the driver did and said he did a great job in creating an “isolation room” for himself. It truly is something remarkable as the taxi driver can still continue with his livelihood while staying away from the infectious disease.

In a report by GMA News, it was revealed the Cagayan De Oro City already recorded one casualty from the COVID-19 pandemic. The victim was the 6th casualty recorded since the outbreak of the disease in the country.

The local government of CDO also ordered various preventive measures to prevent further spread of the virus.
