To parents, children are considered blessings from above and treasures for a lifetime. This is why parents always give their best to provide the best care for their children. But, what happens when a child argues with his parents because they did not ask for his ‘consent’ before giving birth to him?
This Indian man is now gaining attention online after he revealed that he is planning to sue his parents for giving birth to him without asking for his consent. Raphael Samuel, who is seen donning a fake beard and sunglasses, explained on his YouTube video that by suing his parents, he wants other people to realize that “they are born without their consent.”
“I want them to understand that they do not owe their parents anything,” Samuel argued. “And I also want to know that if we are born without their consent, that we should be maintained for the rest of their lives. We should be paid to live.”
When asked to clarify what “without consent” meant, he answered: “We just came here and we came by our parents’ discretion.”
“Your parents don’t own you. You do not need to do anything for them. You do not need to come under their blackmail, you do not need to listen to them. If you feel like, do it,” Samuel said.
He also told parents that they do not own their children, explaining that they do not have control over what decision they make. “They are individuals, not your investments,” he added.
According to Inquirer, Samuel’s belief is rooted in antinatalism, a philosophy that teaches procreation as morally bad.
Meanwhile, it appears that Samuel’s mother is open about the idea of her and her husband being sued. In a Facebook post, Samuel said that his mom, Kavita Karnad Samuel, admired her mon’s “temerity to want to take his parents to court knowing both of us are lawyers.”
“If Raphael could come up with a rational explanation as to how we could have sought his consent to be born, I will accept my fault,” Kavita said as per her son’s post.
“I’m very happy that my son has grown up into a fearless, independent thinking young man. He is sure to find his path to happiness,” she added.
This one sure is an odd encounter between parents and children. Don’t you think so too? Tell us your thoughts in the comments section below.
