We may hate to admit it but it is true that this society has some sort of ‘discrimination’ towards the body sizes of people. The notion that being fat is ugly and being skinny is pretty is what fuels this kind of thinking. This leads people into aiming for a smaller waistline in order to uplift their self-esteem and have a sense of belonging to the whole community.
That is exactly the struggle that this girl has been through which encouraged her to journey into being fit again. In a Facebook post shared by Sarie Santiago, she recalls being called various insulting names like “Kadiri ang Taba” “Balyena” “Dambo” “Basagin na ang Baboy” “Abat” “Aparador” “JELOUS PIG”.
These harsh words got to her but she admitted that it was partly her fault for not taking care of herself and just ate whatever. Realizing this, she knew she needed to make a change.
That is when she started changing her diet and included the gym in her daily schedule. According to her post, she starts off her day by drinking warm water and eating a piece of banana and a boiled egg. She then goes her way to the gym and stays there for two to four hours.
For lunch, she only eats fish or vegetables and no rice at all. She confessed to eating no rice at all for the past 8 months. For dinner, she eats a piece of sweet potato before 8 pm. What keeps her going throughout the day is eating crackers and drinking a lot of water.
Indeed, all her self discipline paid off as she is now enjoying the shape that she is in and proudly shares that she can now wear any type of clothing that she likes.
At the end of her post, she thanked the people who have been with her through her ongoing journey and encouraged the others to bring out their best selves just like she did. She also reminded everyone that all it takes is a simple change to begin within you and the rest will just follow.
