Oftentimes, things we buy from the appliance centers, department stores, or through online shopping comes packed with a layer of plastic or paper cover. It has been a practice to take out this cover to reveal the color and true appearance of whatever it is that we bought.
Well, in the case of this woman, she was unaware that a cabinet she has been using for a few years already is still covered with a thin plastic film!
A mother-of-three, Kayleigh Greer, 35, bought a £150(USD$198) blue cabinet from B&Q in Summer 2016. The cabinet worked fine and functioned just the way it should.
According to 9gag, when Greer was doing a deep clean of her house just recently, she decided to remove the tape along the top of the drawer. It was then that she discovered that the blue was actually a layer of protective film she hadn’t peeled off ever since she bought the cabinet! Its real color was grey all along.
In an interview, Greer said, “I knew there was white tape along the top of each draw which I thought was protection and would eventually need pulling off. I bought the cabinet in mid-2016 and the actual cabinet they had on display was the same blue color.”
“I asked if they did it in another color and they said no. I didn’t really want a blue cabinet but I thought it was the closest to our bedroom that I’d seen,” she added.
Apparently, the bedroom is grey and silver so the cabinet actually matches it better now. It’s like the family got a brand new piece of furniture and they haven’t spent a penny for it!
This sure is a surprising but useful discovery for Greer. Well, you better check out those cabinets or drawers you have at home. Who knows? a thin film might still be covering it.
