Pig painter Pigcasso earns thousands of dollars in his paintings

The internet is now in hysterics after reports of this adorable painter pig came out into the online world. Apparently, this pig from South Africa is given the name, Pig-casso because of its unique talent of being able to paint with its mouth.

It turns out that Pig-casso was previously rescued from a slaughterhouse when she was a piglet in 2016 and taken to an animal sanctuary in Franschhoek, in South Africa’s Western Cape region.

It was here that her new owners noticed her love of color and paint brushes, and the unlikely artist was born. Joanne Lefson, who runs Farm Sanctuary SA, said the painting began as a way of keeping Pigcasso entertained when she was brought to the sanctuary’s barn.

She said: “Pigs are very smart animals and so when I brought Pigcasso here to the barn I thought how do I keep her entertained? We threw in some footballs, rugby balls and of course there were some paintbrushes lying around because the barn was newly built. She basically ate or destroyed everything except these paintbrushes. She loved them so much.”

Soon enough, Pigcasso started dipping the paintbrushes into pots of paints of different colors and started making an artwork on her own canvas.

Surprisingly, according to MSN, Pigcasso’s paintings can sell for almost $4,000 and the proceeds go to animal welfare projects.

Additionally, one of her works was even made as a face for a watch that the Swiss watchmaker, Swatch is developing. The company previously announced their collaboration with Pigcasso recently.

Pigcasso sure is an exceptional artist!
